GRX26 has welcomed senior delegations from critical strategic markets including Chile, Peru, Canada, New Caledonia, and the Philippines. These nations are globally recognised for their leadership in critical minerals and mining technology, and have longstanding partnerships with Australia’s METS sector.
The week opened on Monday with a Perth Mining Innovation Ecosystem Tour, giving international delegates direct access to Australia’s mining capability across technology, research and operations.
100+ delegates visited the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct, then continued with tailored engagements at the BHP Integrated Remote Operations Centre, the CSIRO Australian Resources Research Centre (ARRC), and Hatch’s offices. The tour concluded with a Global Welcome Drinks event, bringing together the international delegations with government representatives and industry leaders.
Austmine Chief Executive Officer Tony Davis said GRX26 plays a critical role in bringing global mining companies and technology partners together with Australia’s world-leading METS sector.
“Getting international operators on the ground in Australia is incredibly important. It gives them direct exposure to the depth of capability across our METS sector and creates real opportunities to build partnerships that go well beyond this week.”
“Collaboration between mining companies and METS is what drives innovation in our industry. GRX is about accelerating those connections, not just talking about them.”
AusIMM CEO Stephen Durkin said, “It’s Australia’s expertise, our minerals, and our world-class resources professionals – who AusIMM so proudly represents – that shape our sector’s global reputation.
“GRX connects this expertise with the world, and showcases the leadership and innovation needed to drive our industry forward.”
International delegations will remain a visible and active part of GRX26 across the week through:
- A dedicated International Lounge, supported by Global Engagement Partner Austrade, providing attendees with direct access to international operators, enabling real-time conversations and lasting relationships.
- The Southeast Asia Mining Innovation Exchange, connecting Australian METS companies with mining leaders from across the region as a facilitated roundtable, focusing on real operational challenges and technology needs.
- A session led by PROMPERU, Securing the Future: Peru’s Role in Critical Minerals and Resilient Supply Chains, exploring how Australia and Peru can work together to strengthen mining value chains in a competitive global environment.
- Targeted B2B meetings with the Canadian delegation, with pre-arranged one-on-one sessions connecting cleantech companies, METS providers, and mining operators to drive commercial outcomes.
Mr Davis said, “This isn’t about passive sessions, it’s about creating the environment and energy for real conversations between miners, METS, and partners that can take Australian innovation global,” he said. “When you bring global operators together with the right technology providers, that’s where progress happens.”
