Australian-based lithium developer PepinNini Resources has declared a maiden resource at its Pular lithium brine project in Argentina's Salta province a month after declaring one at its Rincon project in the same area, reports Argus Media.

A measured resource of 366 000 lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) has been declared at Pular, along with an inferred resource of 113 000 t of LCE, the company said. Potash is expected to be produced as a by-product.

Because of the rock types that dominate the drainable brine resources, it is anticipated that future wells will be favourable for extracting brine, said Managing Director Rebecca Holland-Kennedy.

PepinNini last month declared a maiden mineral resource at its Rincon project, also situated in South America's so-called ‘lithium triangle’ that straddles Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. It includes 60 000 t of LCE in the measured and indicated categories and 6000 t of LCE in the inferred category. Potash is a by-product.

PepinNini is also developing a copper-gold project in Argentina and has exploration projects in South Australia's Musgrave region.
