Codelco was recognised by the consulting firm EY-Parthenon with the award for 'Innovative Transaction of the Year 2025', thanks to its strategic alliance with I-Pulse, a pioneering company in high-power pulsed energy (HPP) technologies.
The transaction, closed during LME Week in London last October, involves the acquisition of an equity stake in I-Pulse, which allows Codelco to secure preferential conditions for implementing this innovation in its operations and marks a decisive step towards more efficient and sustainable mining.
The chairman of the board, Máximo Pacheco, highlighted that this collaboration will transform processes such as crushing and grinding, responsible for up to 50% of energy consumption in mining, with reductions of up to 80% in energy use, in addition to reducing the use of explosives and damage to the surrounding rock, enabling more efficient operations with lower costs and environmental impact.
“At Codelco we have learned that major challenges are not solved solely through operational efficiency, but also through new technology and partners who think differently. I-Pulse thinks differently,” Pacheco commented upon receiving the award. With this recognition, Codelco reaffirms its commitment to leading the technological transformation of the mining industry, facing the challenges of more complex and deeper deposits with innovation and a vision for the future.
