Glencore Technology celebrates 500th Jameson Cell installation at New Gold’s New Afton Mine

After extensive independent research, New Gold approached Glencore Technology to explore options for replacing its aging cleaning circuit. A comprehensive program of on-site, head-to-head test work was carried out, comparing the Jameson Cell against an alternative technology.

Glencore Technology conducted in-depth testing across all stages of the cleaning circuit – scalping, scavenging, and re-cleaning – and delivered detailed data and circuit modelling tailored to New Gold’s operational needs. Multiple flowsheet options were provided, including both hybrid and standalone Jameson Cell configurations.

This collaborative process led to a stage-wise implementation strategy, with the re-cleaner stage being prioritised for the first Jameson Cell installation.

Demonstrating its commitment to flexibility, Glencore Technology partnered with a Canadian manufacturer to produce the Jameson Cell domestically – fulfilling New Gold’s preference for local procurement.
