Southern Cross Britannia, the UK-based mineral exploration company focused on green energy metals with over 130 000 ha. of mining licences in Argentina's Salta province, has announced that it has reached key milestones at its Hombre Muerto South Lithium Project (HMS Project).

Southern Cross Britannia reaches key lithium milestones

The HMS Project spans ca. 60 000 ha. in the Hombre Muerto basin, Argentina's most prolific lithium brine basin situated in South America's “Lithium Triangle”.

The Hombre Muerto basin ranks in the top quartile globally in terms of lithium concentrations, low magnesium-to-lithium concentrations, and low operational costs. Projects and licences in the vicinity of the HMS Project hold an impressive post-tax NPV in excess of US$20 billion in the aggregate.

The company has a 100% interest in the HMS Project. It is the last undrilled lithium brine project of such material size in Argentina, the fastest growing lithium producing country in the world.

Highlights:

Geophysical Surveys and Sampling (August - September 2023)

  • 40 line km of CSAMT and 15 line km of DCIP surveys were acquired by Quantec Geoscience, the largest provider of non-seismic ground geophysical services. These surveys have confirmed the presence of substantial low-resistivity brines, indicating the potential for significant lithium brine resources.
  • ICP-MS analysis of salt crust samples by SGS, the testing, inspection, and certification company, reveals lithium concentrations of ca. 950 mg/L, further evidencing the presence of an active lithium brine system.

NI 43-101 Report (October - December 2023)

  • Montgomery & Associates, the company specialising in water resource consulting, are preparing a NI 43-101 report for the HMS Project. Michael Rosko and Brandon Schneider will function as the qualified person for the report.

Exploration Drilling (2024)

  • Southern Cross Britannia is planning a multi-well exploration drilling campaign for early 2024, marking a significant move towards full-scale development. This drilling phase will provide a comprehensive understanding of the HMS Project's geology, lithium reserves, and scalability.

Christian Möbius, CEO of Southern Cross Britannia, said:

"We are immensely proud of the progress we've made with our Hombre Muerto South Lithium Project. The recent milestones underscore the potential, viability, and robust trajectory of our endeavour. Our collaboration with a highly respected expert like Mike Rosko further elevates our confidence in the project's success. The Hombre Muerto basin has unique geological advantages and is an exceptional location for lithium extraction, promising substantial returns.

"We look forward to our inaugural exploration drilling campaign next year, and sharing updates on this as and when appropriate, as the company enters a transformational phase in its development."
