Operators, engineers, supervisors, and managers from mine sites across Australia will be in the spotlight at this year’s International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC), as organisers increase emphasis on connecting with on-the-ground operational decision makers.

IMARC 2025: Operational staff take centre stage as Australia’s biggest mining and resources event connects exhibitors, sponsors, and key decision makers

A forum for collaborations and partnerships

Now in its 12th year, IMARC will be held from 21-23 October 2025 at ICC Sydney. Recognised globally as a key forum for the mining and resources sector, IMARC provides a platform to network, meet new customers, explore partnerships, and sign deals.

Hexagon, a global leader in measurement technologies, says IMARC is a prime opportunity to strengthen relationships with customers, suppliers, and investors. The company recently completed a successful full-fleet trial with Whitehaven Coal, integrating its Operator Alertness System (OAS) with its Collision Avoidance System (CAS), and has also delivered strong results at MMG’s Rosebery mine in Tasmania, where its OAS deployment cut severe incidents by over 80%.

At IMARC, Hexagon’s Mining President, Dave Goddard, will join Rob Derries, Senior Manager of Technology and Innovation at Gold Fields Australia, to present “From vision to value – The Hexagon–Gold Fields partnership”. The session will highlight how modernisation, driven by shared strategy and integrated technology, is improving safety, productivity, and sustainability across global operations.

“Collaboration is at the heart of our approach,” said Goddard. “Our work with Gold Fields shows what’s possible when innovation goes hand-in-hand with cultural change. Together, we’re delivering results that raise the bar for the entire industry. IMARC provides the perfect stage to showcase these partnerships.”

A new focus on mining operators

IMARC 2025 will introduce a new initiative aimed at the people working directly with these technologies on the ground. A dedicated Mining Operators Series will welcome operators, engineers, supervisors, and managers from mines in development and production, with complimentary access for relevant personnel. For companies like Hexagon, it’s an opportunity to connect not only with decision-makers but also with the workforce using their solutions day in day out. The programme will feature practical technical sessions and exclusive networking events, creating space to share insights and explore the innovations transforming mining operations.

Anita Richards, Chief Operating Officer at IMARC, said: “IMARC 2025 will shine a spotlight on the operators who keep our mines running day in, day out. These professionals are not only driving productivity and safety on-site, they are increasingly the decision makers shaping procurement and technology adoption.” “By bringing more operational staff into the heart of IMARC, we’re ensuring that our sponsors and exhibitors can connect directly with the people who influence how mines of the future are built and run.”

“This year, along with C-level executives and international delegations, we are expecting a record number of operational staff, ensuring that our exhibitors can connect directly with decision makers at all levels of the industry,” Ms Richards said. BHP mine projects superintendent Ben Edwards, who will be part of IMARC’s Mining Operators Series, says it’s a welcome addition to the programme.

“Conversations about what really happens on site and what is important to sites and operations are needed at large conferences like IMARC,” he said. “Bringing executives and company leaders together with onsite leaders and subject matter experts, hearing largely unfiltered information about what matters most, is very valuable.”
