New Frontier Minerals Ltd (NFM) has announced encouraging preliminary metallurgical results from bulk samples collected at Big One Deposit legacy stockpiles, part of the company’s 100% owned NWQ Copper Project located in north-west Queensland.

New Frontier Minerals announces encouraging bulk sample results

A total of 12 composite samples collected from three ex-mine stockpile sites were submitted for geochemical analysis and subsequential metallurgical leach testing by New Frontier Minerals at ALS, Mt Isa. Testing focused on determining the leachability of copper via sulfuric acid and cyanide reagents, simulating standard copper heap leach and vat leach processing options.

Highlights

  • Bulk samples collected from historical stockpiles at the Big One Deposit for preliminary sequential metallurgical test work returns high copper recovery rates.
  • Sulfuric acid leach indicative recoveries range from 83% to 99% Cu, con?rming potential for conventional acid leach processing.
  • Assays from 12 selective grab samples return copper grades ranging from 3.9 – 11.85%.
  • Bulk sample testing supports advancement of Big One as near-term production asset under Mt Kelly MOU with Austral Resources Ltd, fast-tracking NFM’s pathway to production.
  • Positioned in Australia’s premier copper province, the NWQ Copper Project features world- class infrastructure and vast exploration potential across more than 20 under-explored targets.

Gerrard Hall, NFM Chairman, comments:

“These initial metallurgical results mark an exciting step forward in unlocking value from the Big One Deposit. Achieving theoretical potential recoveries of over 95% in most samples using conventional acid leach methods reinforces the potential viability of the Big One deposit and our stockpile strategy to fast-track production.

“Importantly, these results support our partnership with Austral Resources and the processing optionality offered through their Mt Kelly facility. As we continue to progress mining approvals and expand metallurgical test work, we remain focused on advancing the Big One Deposit into a potential near-term source of high-grade copper production.”
