Codelco reports fatal accident in Division El Teniente

With deep regret, Codelco has reported the death of Pedro Enrique Mena Bolvaran (58 years old), a worker of Codelco El Teniente Division, who was part of the mining department.
For reasons that are still being investigated, at approximately 11:00 am on 2 June, while working at the Pilar Norte mine, the worker was hit by a rock, which caused serious injuries.
As soon as the event occurred, the work in this sector was immediately suspended and the emergency protocols were activated. Medical personnel came to the place and the worker underwent resuscitation maneuvers for more than 30 min. that were unsuccessful, confirming his death. In addition, the competent authorities were notified.
Codelco deeply regrets this fatal accident and expresses its deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of Pedro Mena Bolvaran, while reaffirming its commitment to constantly improve occupational health and safety measures for all people working in its various projects and tasks.
