The SRK Group has appointed Corporate Consultant, Mark Noppé, as its new Board Chair. Mark brings to this position over 30 years’ experience in the mining and geoscience industries and is known for providing advice, training, and mentorship in all aspects of orebody knowledge for developing projects and operating mines.

Noppé’s project evaluation expertise includes exploration, data assessment, mineral resource reporting, mine geology and grade control, and reserve generation inputs and reconciliation. In 2020, he received the AusIMM’s Charles Marshall Professional Excellence Award, which recognises chartered professionals who, as consultants, have made outstanding and sustained contributions to the resources industry and are widely known and respected for their efforts. Noppé has worked for SRK as a corporate consultant since 2015 and became a Director of the SRK Group in 2018 and Managing Director for SRK (Australasia) in 2019.

“In my new role, I look forward to working with the SRK Group’s board and new CEO Tim McGurk,” said Noppé. “I aim to continue SRK’s practice of placing clients first, supported by the depth and breadth of our services which, together with our global reach and local knowledge, allow us to deliver timely, relevant, and responsible solutions.”

He takes over from Jeff Parshley, who has served as group chairman for the past five-years. Parshely will remain a corporate consultant for SRK in mining-related environmental and mine closure issues.

“I’m honoured to have been invited to chair a business built by, and made up of, quality people,” added Noppé. “Jeff is a stand-out example of these people, and I thank him for his past and ongoing guidance and dedication.”

As the world confronts unprecedented challenges, so too the resources industry faces increasingly complex technical, environmental, and social issues.

“Today’s challenges present us at SRK with unique opportunities to re-think the fundamentals of how our industry develops, operates, and closes mines,” concluded Noppé, “and to leverage our experience with evolving techniques and technologies to deliver applied solutions that benefit all stakeholders involved.”
