In preparation for its next phase of growth and its embarkation on decarbonisation efforts, TOP International Holding (TOP), a homegrown key player in mining and trading, has announced the recent appointments of three newly created senior roles. Professor Annie Koh has joined as Senior Advisor, Ian Gay as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Li Sichuan as Director of Investments and Business Development.

The timely appointments of these three roles are pivotal at a time when TOP is looking to neutralise its carbon footprints by harnessing low-carbon energy solutions such as solar, hydro and wind for its business activities. To propel greater growth, the company will also intensify its diversification projects into adjacent business streams like agriculture, new materials, and automation.

Dato’ Victor Tan, CEO of TOP, said: “Since our inception in 2014, TOP has grown from a small start-up to a company with global footprints today. I am thankful to my team for their dedication and hard work in attaining our current achievements.”

“As we prepare to scale the company, we are delighted to welcome Professor Koh, Ian and Sichuan to TOP as key members of the senior management team. Professor Koh is a renowned and well-respected figure in both the industry and academic fields. Her considerable knowledge is invaluable to us and her guidance will be vital as we gear up for our next phase of growth. Ian and Sichuan, both industry veterans in their respective fields, will bring bench strength and contribute directly to the overall growth of the company. I am confident that with all three of them onboard, and together with my existing team, TOP is poised to achieve our 3-year goals mapped out in our strategy roadmap,” he added.

“As a relatively young local company, TOP has grown impressively and achieved several industry accolades,” commented Professor Koh. “I have watched the company develop from a fledgling into a high-potential company it is today. This is testament to its strong leadership and dedicated team. I’m excited to join this vibrant and dynamic company and look forward to guiding Victor and his team towards further refinement of their business strategies in achieving greater growth.”

Professor Koh is Professor Emeritus of Finance (Practice) at Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University (SMU). In addition to being a member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on New Agenda for Work, Wages and Job Creation, Professor Koh also chairs the Asian Bond Fund 2 supervisory committee of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. She sits on various boards and serves on the Customs Advisory Council and HR Transformation Advisory Panel. As TOP’s Advisor, Professor Annie Koh will guide the management team, notably in the development and management of strategic opportunities, and formations of corporate partnerships.

Ian oversees the planning, implementing, managing and controlling of all financial-related activities at TOP. This includes direct responsibility for treasury, financing, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, finance and trade risk, and governance. Ian also provides leadership in the development and evaluation of short and long-term financial objectives. Ian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from various sectors including petroleum, petrochemical, tyre and mining. He is accomplished in trade and structured finance, corporate and operations management in dynamic international trading and manufacturing environments. Prior to joining TOP, Ian was the General Manager of Operational Control & Business Planning at the Giti Tire Group.

Sichuan oversees the Investments and Business Development portfolio which develops and establishes new and sustainable business lines for TOP. He is also responsible for prospecting new and strategic partners to ensure a robust pipeline of engagements. A senior executive with rich experience in offshore construction, petrochemical, and infrastructure sectors, Sichuan joins TOP at a critical time in which the company is gearing up for growth acceleration. Prior to joining TOP, Sichuan managed the development of mid to large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring necessary technical and financial competence for project progression.
