Aguia announces Andrade assay results

Global Mining Review,

Aguia Resources Ltd has confirmed strong assay results from the ongoing diamond drilling programme at the Andrade Copper Project, in the Rio Grande Copper Belt, in southernmost Brazil.

As previously announced, the initial 2000 m of drilling forms the first phase of the infill drilling programme planned across four phases. To date, the company has completed 15 drill holes totalling 1450 m.

The drilling programme is concentrating on the shallow and high-grade ore body portions of the deposit. Previous holes in that portion returned significant high-grade mineralisation, including the then best intercepts of 28.77 m grading 1.83% copper (Cu) from 63.63 m, with a higher-grade zone of 19.39 m grading 2.55% Cu.

The company continues to intersect high-grade copper zones, confirming and extending to the south the shallow high-grade copper zone within the existing Andrade mineral resource area. Hole AND-22-019 has returned the best copper mineralisation intercept drilled so far in the entire deposit, being 10 m longer than the company’s previous best drill hole. In additional, Hole AND-22-019 also returned an important mineralised intercept that will add to and improve the overall resource model:

  • Hole AND-22-019: 38.2 m at 1.42% at Cu and 3.64 Ag (from 76 m).
  • Hold AND-22-018: 11 m at 0.6% Cu and 9.83 g/t silver (Ag) (from 83 m), including 2 m at 1.27% Cu and 14.7 g/t Ag.

Managing Director, Dr Fernando Tallarico, said: “We continue to be very excited about the overall drilling results at our Andrade Project. This last assay batch returned the best copper intercept of the entire deposit so far. AND-22-019 was drilled along the western portion of the orebody and is expanding a high-grade zone further to the south. These results not only prove our model, but will certainly contribute to improve the quality of our resource modelling. In parallel to the diamond drilling programme, we continue to advance, with different test work, to improve the processing flowchart of our Green Copper Project. We will keep our shareholders updated on further results.”
