The major mines permitting office at the British Columbian government has received a permit application for the Kemess Underground Gold-Copper project owned by AuRico Metals. The Kemess Underground project is undergoing a coordinated permitting review process, meaning that all of the required permit applications have been submitted and will be reviewed at the same time.

A 45-day screening process will commence now that the permit applications have been submitted, with the idea that the office needs time to correctly identify all aspects of the permit. Once such permits have been successfully screened and accepted, the applications will reach a new phase in which comments will be received and addressed under specific deadlines. The final decision packages will then be sent from approval. The permitting process is anticipated to be compete in Q2 2018.

As previously announced on March 15, 2017, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency issued a positive Decision Statement and the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office granted an Environmental Assessment Certificate for the Kemess Underground project.
