Atrum Coal begins environmental site monitoring at Groundhog North

Atrum Coal has commenced environmental baseline water surveying and monitoring at its Groundhog North anthracite project in British Columbia, Canada.
According to the company, the information obtained from the programme will be critical for further exploration and mine planning, and is mandatory for permit applications in Britsh Columbia.
Ann Marie Hann, the company’s VP External Relations, stated: “We are pleased to be on site at Groundhog, monitoring elevated water flow associated with the spring snow melt. This is an important regulatory based activity in Canada, as flow rates and water levels vary considerably during the year. The information gained from this year’s monitoring programme will support our efforts in exploration and mine planning and also our permitting applications under the Province of British Columbia regulations.”
The freshet monitoring programme consists of two components, namely surface hydrology monitoring and a baseline surface water quality programme.
