Doppelmayr builds ropeway for material transport in Colombia

Doppelmayr, the ropeway engineering company, is to install a ropeway at the Buriticá gold ore project in north-western Colombia. CGL Sucursal Colombia, a subsidiary of the Canadian mining company Continental Gold, Inc. is developing the project.
The ropeway, approximately 1.4 km in length, will transport tailings from the valley floor to the paste backfill plant at 1700 m above sea level, covering a difference in elevation of 646 m.
In October 2017, Doppelmayr, headquartered in Austria, was awarded a contract to build the ropeway, which will transport 175 tonnes of material per hour in buckets. Commissioning of the system is planned to take place in March 2019.
