The traceability, including capturing and linking data of origin, processing, and ESG indicators, will be introduced across the whole supply chain – from the Çataltepe Mine based in Lapseki, Çanakkale to the Kalkim Flotation Plant, and finally to export.
The system will provide a transparent chain of custody for each shipment of lead concentrate, zinc concentrate and copper concentrate from the Çataltepe polymetallic mine, with the expected volumes of ~15,000 t of ore processed monthly, yielding 1000-1200 t of concentrate output.
The introduction of Digital Product Passports consolidates reporting, improves efficiency, and enhances trust with downstream customers and will help to ensure compliance with international regulations such as the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA).
The Çataltepe polymetallic mine is located in the Dardanelles region (Çanakkale) in Turkey and is being restarted under TETHYS's "Marmotek" project, with underground mining operations commencing in August 2025 and first ore targeted for Q4 2025. The project aims to sustainably extract polymetallic minerals such as zinc, lead, copper, and silver, utilising advanced technologies like robotics, automation, AI, and blockchain, all while adhering to strict international ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) frameworks.
The pilot with Minespider follows an earlier announced agreement and strategic partnership with TETHYS aimed at digitalising mining supply chains across Türkiye and Central Asia. “Çataltepe is our bridge between innovation and accountability. Digital Product Passports will let customers see not just what we produce, but how – strengthening compliance, efficiency, and confidence from Türkiye to global markets," said Leyla Keser Berber, Chairperson of TETHYS.
"It’s exciting to see Minespider’s Digital Product Passport deployed at Çataltepe. By working with TETHYS, we’re not only enabling transparency for every tonne of ore, but also setting a new benchmark for responsible mining in the region. This is about building supply chains that are transparent, verifiable, and aligned with the strictest international standards – and proving that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand," commented Nathan Williams, Founder & CEO of Minespider.
