Global Mining Review,
The Programme Committee of the World Mining Congress (WMC) 2026 has announced its international call for short course proposals.

This initiative aims to foster concrete solutions for a mining industry that is more efficient, sustainable, and aligned with the challenges of a transforming planet. Under the theme 'Mining for the Future: Trust, Technology & Transformation,' the Congress invites experts and professionals to share knowledge that can accelerate project delivery, optimise existing resources, and shorten development timelines – while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental protection and community well-being.
Call for Short Courses Led by Dr. Doris Hiam-Gálvez, Chair of the WMC 2026 Programme Committee, the organising team invites specialists and subject-matter experts to submit proposals for short courses to be held in Lima, Peru, on 22nd June and 23rd June 2026, immediately prior to the Congress.
Short courses are offered in the following formats: Half day: 4 hours; Full day: 8 hours; or Two days: 16 hours. These sessions offer participants an opportunity to expand their knowledge and engage in interactive, hands-on learning experiences.
Proposals will be evaluated according to five key criteria: the clarity and depth of the content; practical impact and urgency, addressing current industry challenges with potential for immediate transformation of results; relevance to the Congress theme 'Mining for the Future'; the instructor’s expertise, demonstrating leadership and the ability to inspire practical application; and finally, course design and interactivity, promoting collaboration and involvement.
