The Mina Rajo team increased its load factor to 277 t for each team and expects to reach 300 t.

In 2020, the Chuquise pit mine team set the aspiration of having zero accidents, reaching a total movement of 220 000 tpd of ore, a load factor of 300 t for each unloaded equipment and contributing with 30 000 t of fine copper over plan.

"In terms of safety, we have improved significantly compared to last year. In the operation, we are in line with what was budgeted. Our workers took on the challenge with clear goals and objectives that we review every day, applying the C + methodology and all tools available. These results are based on individual and team commitment with our purpose of being more productive, competitive and sustainable, to support Chile," commented Mina Rajo Manager, Aldo Jofré.

One of the focuses on which supervision has been concentrated is dialogue and direct interaction with workers. In recent weeks, conversations with teams intensified to align efforts and gather new ideas.

The General Operator, Alexander Araos, said that it is possible "to improve the ability to partner with production to maintain compliance and be informed about tonnages and safety, which is the main thing."

"The pit mine is living its last life cycle, however, the work team is committed to transforming itself and continuing to improve practices to strengthen the mining and copper business. This pit is an emblem for the country and, with history that we have on our backs, we will do everything we can to ensure that Codelco continues to be a profitable and sustainable business. With the strength of our copper, we will continue advancing through Chile," added Jofré.

During this period, Mina del Pit Operations managed to increase the load factor from 268 to 277 t per CAEX from Phase 49 (January – July 2020), which implies an increase of 4000 tpd the rescue of new reserves. Likewise, the availability of transportation equipment increased from 69% (Plan P0) to 75.5% in real terms as of August.
