Firering Strategic Minerals has positioned its Limeco Project to support Zambia’s copper production expansion, now Africa’s second-largest copper producer.

The company intends to become the domestic quicklime solution for Zambia’s Copperbelt Province’s smelters, reducing reliance on costly imports from South Africa for Zambia’s vital copper industry. Production of Limeco’s core quicklime product began at the end of Feb 2025, with full capacity of 600 – 800 t/d targeted by 1Q26 via phased kiln commissioning. First sales are imminent, with copper prices surging towards US$12 000 /t on rising demand.

Quicklime is critical for the copper smelting process, removing impurities to ensure a high purity end product.
