Anglo American plc has announced the value of rough diamond sales (Global Sightholder Sales and Auctions) for De Beers’ third sales cycle of 2023, amounting to US$540 million.
The provisional rough diamond sales figure quoted for Cycle 3 represents the expected sales value for the period 27 March and 11 April and remains subject to adjustment based on final completed sales.
Al Cook, CEO of De Beers, comments:
“We have continued to see good demand for our rough diamonds over the third sales cycle of the year as we move into the second quarter of 2023. Sales were in line with expectations and we continue to see some encouraging positive trends in consumer demand for diamond jewellery, not least in China where we’re beginning to see some signs of recovery in consumer confidence following the relaxation of travel restrictions.”
