Pioneer Lithium Limited has announced that following continued positive discussions with Slate Falls First Nation, it has executed an early exploration agreement, enabling the company to finalise, implement, and continue its summer field work campaigns at its Root Lake Lithium Project in Ontario, Canada.
Pioneer Lithium, its staff, and key advisors are thankful for the support of Slate Falls First Nation and will continue to work closely and collectively with them throughout all stages of the project.
The company believes that early-stage collaboration with indigenous communities can create lasting trust and mutually beneficial economic opportunities while ensuring that projects are progressed sustainably and with respect.
SFFN Councillor Freddie Sakakeesic commented; “By signing this agreement, Pioneer Lithium demonstrated their commitment to working with Slate Falls First Nation to understand the importance of our land, our water, and our way of life as evidenced in our community-based land use plan. Through respectful dialogue, the company recognised our ancestral role as stewards over the land and water by granting the community free, prior, and informed consent over their mining activities in our Traditional Territory.”
