Global Mining Review,
The Fruta del Norte Project is Lundin Gold’s 100%-owned underground gold mine, located in the Cordillera del Cóndor region of southeastern Ecuador. It is one of the world’s highest-grade operating gold mines with a large and highly prospective land package for ongoing exploration.

A ‘blind’ system, the main deposit is concealed beneath more than 200 metres of post-mineralisation volcano-sedimentary cover, rendering conventional surface exploration methods ineffective. The epithermal gold-silver mineralisation is structurally controlled by steep, second-order faults within a larger regional fault zone. To find more, Lundin Gold needed agile and enhanced geophysical insight into these structures – an especially challenging task given the remote jungle setting, where access and logistics are severely constrained.
“Fruta del Norte is a powerful example of how Agile Geoscience is redefining what’s possible in mineral exploration”, said Flavia Tata Nardini, Co-Founder & CEO of Fleet Space Technologies. “By integrating high-resolution active seismic into our ExoSphere platform, we are enabling Lundin Gold to illuminate complex, blind mineral systems beneath significant cover and transform deeper structural understanding into actionable intelligence. In challenging environments like the Cordillera del Cóndor, where access is constrained and traditional methods fall short, Agile Geoscience delivers the precision, speed, and data integration required to confidently advance near-mine exploration while reducing risk and environmental impact.”
Agile geoscience: Unlocking near-mine exploration potential
The complex terrain and nature of the major structures controlling the mineralisation at Fruta del Norte required Agile Geoscience to accurately delineate the faults and identify potential opportunity zones for further exploration. Leveraging the active seismic survey capabilities of Fleet Space’s ExoSphere platform, Lundin Gold built a high-resolution structural framework to improve geological models of the project, develop new high-priority targets, and reduce risk for its near-mine exploration programmes.
To achieve these objectives, Lundin Gold and Fleet Space designed a new, high-resolution active seismic survey across the project area to complement and refine Lundin Gold’s existing geological and assay datasets. By integrating these datasets, ExoSphere helped to deliver a more detailed view of the subsurface structural and geological framework, bringing previously obscured features into focus. The resulting interpretations provided actionable insight, enabling Lundin Gold to target drilling with greater precision, prioritise the highest-value opportunities, and advance with confidence grounded in data.
