The accolade highlights companies that are significantly contributing to reducing the environmental impact of human activities, and places the pioneering mineral exploration and development company among the top 250 in the world – and at number seven in the UK.
It follows a comprehensive study of over 8000 companies by TIME in partnership with Statista, the global provider of market and consumer data. The study examined companies using three key criteria: positive environmental impact, innovation drive, and financial strength.
Scoring 87.4 out of 100, Cornish Lithium earned its coveted spot for trailblazing the domestic supply of lithium, a crucial metal for the energy transition, using responsible extraction methods in both its Trelavour Hard Rock and Lithium in Geothermal Waters projects.
Jeremy Wrathall, CEO, Interim Chairman and Founder of Cornish Lithium, commented:
“It is a huge honour for Cornish Lithium to be recognised globally for making a positive environmental impact and to be named among the world’s leading green companies.
“The UK currently imports 100% of the lithium it uses, yet we’re home to the largest lithium resource in Europe with enough beneath our feet in Cornwall to supply over half of what the UK electric vehicle industry needs. Our Trelavour Hard Rock Project will produce battery-grade lithium hydroxide on site in Cornwall, avoiding the need for refining in Asia, and our Lithium in Geothermal Waters project hopes to go one step further by producing heat too. There is huge potential – what we are doing now is just the beginning.”
