ICMM welcomes Cámara Minera de México and the International Lithium Association as new members

The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) has approved the International Lithium Association (ILiA) and Cámara Minera de México (CAMIMEX) as new association members.

ILiA

Representing leading producers of lithium, ILiA was formed to provide a central, global voice for lithium producers and their stakeholders, and to promote a sustainable and a responsible future for the lithium value chain.

Rohitesh Dhawan, CEO, ICMM, said: “We are delighted to welcome ILiA as an ICMM association member. Lithium is critical to decarbonisation and sustainable development, and iLiA’s focus on the highest standards of environmental, social and governance practices strongly resonates with ICMM’s long-standing commitment to responsible mining.”

Anand Sheth, Chairman, ILiA, commented: “As the voice of the lithium industry, ILiA is looking forward to working with ICMM going forward."

Roland Chavasse, ILiA Secretary General, added: “We look forward to participating and supporting the goals and initiatives of ICMM.”

CAMIMEX

CAMIMEX fosters a comprehensive development of the mining and metals industries in Mexico as well as coordinating and representing its interests. Among its affiliate companies, it promotes the implementation of the best environmental, social and governance practices to strengthen their performance.

Rohitesh said: “CAMIMEX’s focus on the wellbeing of present and future generations, respect for the environment and balanced and socially responsible growth aligns with ICMM’s mission for a safe, fair and sustainable mining and metals industry, and we are thrilled to welcome them as a new association member.”

Jaime Gutiérrez, Chairman, CAMIMEX, concluded: “We are very pleased to become members of the ICMM. We look forward to working with ICMM for the sustainable development of the mining sector in Mexico.”

ILiA and CAMIMEX join 28 companies and over 35 national, regional and commodity associations who form the ICMM membership.
