Sandvik is advancing its ground support portfolio with end-to-end resin bolting solutions designed to improve safety and productivity. By combining drilling and bolting equipment, resin technologies, chemical products, and a comprehensive bolt portfolio into one package, the company aims to simplify operations and help mines achieve more consistent results.

The new end-to-end approach brings together Sandvik underground drill rigs, pumpable resin systems, automated resin capsule injection technology, and a wide range of support products. The goal is to ensure that all components work seamlessly together while reducing operational complexity for customers.

“By integrating equipment, consumables and application expertise into one solution, we can help our customers achieve safer and more efficient ground support operations,” said Thomas Vallant, President Ground Support Division at Sandvik. “The close collaboration between our teams across equipment, chemicals, and rock reinforcement has been key to developing a solution that delivers value throughout the entire process.”

Sandvik’s resin bolting portfolio includes pumpable resin systems available for the DD422i/iE Dual Controls development drills and DS412i/iE and DS512i i-series rock bolters. The sealed pumpable resin systems remove the need for manual chemical handling and integrate directly into the equipment’s control interface. Operators can operate each step, from resin mixing to injection and curing, safely from inside the cabin improving both operational control and process consistency.

Another key component is the Automatic Resin Capsules Injection (ARI) system for i-series bolting rigs. The technology enables ground-level loading and automated capsule installation, reducing manual work and allowing operators to perform other tasks while resin capsules are being inserted. By streamlining the installation process, the system can help shorten cycle times and reduce exposure to potentially hazardous working conditions.

The solutions are complemented by a broad portfolio of chemical products and reinforcement systems. These include the Mineral Bolt resin range, which is available with different curing times to match varying ground conditions, as well as Fasloc® resin capsules manufactured across several regions to support local demand. Customers can also choose from a range of hollow, self-drilling, solid rebar, and dynamic bolts to suit their specific operational requirements.

This integrated approach can improve both safety and productivity. Automated resin injecting helps ensure consistent installation quality, while high onboard resin capacities and adjustable curing times support more efficient bolting cycles.

“We are very pleased that these solutions have already generated a great interest among our customers, and we have already conducted our first successful tests,” said Anssi Kouhia, Product Manager at Sandvik. “The feedback has been highly positive as the system addresses real operational challenges. By bringing together proven technologies into one integrated offering, we can help customers improve safety, efficiency, and overall performance underground.”

Given the growing demand for automation and safer mining methods, Sandvik is convinced that integrated resin bolting solutions will play an important role in underground rock support in the future. It is important to help mines improve their operational performance while maintaining high safety standards.
