Paul succeeds Neal Froneman, who has completed his term as Chair of the Board. Paul Brink has led Franco-Nevada since 2020 and ran its business development since IPO in 2007.
Franco-Nevada is the leading gold-focused royalty and streaming company and has a long history of engagement with, and leadership of the World Gold Council.
World Gold Council CEO, David Tait, commented: “I would like to thank Neal for his leadership as Chair. His insight, experience, and commitment to responsible mining have helped guide the World Gold Council through an important period of progress, from supporting responsible ASGM formalisation to advancing our gold digitalisation programme.
“As Paul takes on the role, we look forward to working with him and the Board to build on that momentum across our strategic initiatives, and to continue championing a more responsible, accessible, and trusted gold market.”
Paul Brink, President and Chief Executive Officer of Franco-Nevada Corporation and Chair of the Board, World Gold Council, commented on his appointment: “I am honoured to represent the leading gold producers globally at a time when gold’s relevance has rarely been more evident.
“I would like to commend Neal for his role in advancing the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative, which will help strengthen trust, transparency, and accountability across our industry.
"During his tenure, the Council's pivotal role in engaging with central banks was evident in robust growth in official sector gold holdings, underscoring gold’s enduring role as a strategic reserve asset. Under his leadership, the Council has advanced its gold digitalisation programme, both to broaden access to gold and to support the long-term strength and integrity of the market.
“I look forward to working with David Tait, the World Gold Council team and the Board to continue this important work. ”
