Brazilian Nickel retains Nickel Mark Certification through 2027

Brazilian Nickel Limited, a private company focused on producing Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) product with high nickel content and low impurities from its flagship Piauí Nickel Project in Brazil, has provided an update on its sustainability priorities with the publication of its 2025 Sustainability Report.

Laurie Kelly, CSO of Brazilian Nickel commented: “As we advance our flagship Piauí Nickel Project in Brazil, we are focused on integrating sustainability considerations into all aspects of project planning, risk management, governance, and operational readiness. I am delighted to confirm that we have retained the Nickel Mark award through 2027, attesting to our alignment with global standards of responsibility in the nickel value chain.

“Our 2025 Sustainability Report reflects the progress we are making to strengthen our environmental and social management systems, deepen engagement with local communities and prepare the project for commercial-scale implementation in line with international best practice. We are proud of the achievements of our team and partners over the year, as we continue to progress our project and work to support our people, communities, and the responsible development of critical mineral supply chains."

2025 sustainability highlights

  • Maintained the Nickel Mark award, reflecting alignment with internationally recognised responsible nickel production standards.
  • Recorded zero lost-time accidents, supporting the company’s Zero Harm objective.
  • Established the Board of Directors’ Sustainability Committee to strengthen oversight of ESG risks, performance, and strategic priorities.
  • Completed an updated materiality assessment, identifying 11 material topics across governance, social, and environmental pillars.
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement through Project Monitoring Committees, Women’s Dialogue Roundtables, facility visits, and community engagement programmes.
  • Progressed land acquisition and resettlement planning in line with IFC Performance Standards and international good practice.
  • Secured Great Place to Work certification and continued to invest in employee wellbeing, training, and development.
  • Continued to advance water management, biodiversity conservation, waste management, and climate resilience initiatives linked to the Piauí Nickel Project.

2025 Sustainability Report Brazilian Nickel’s third annual Sustainability Report covers the period from 1 January to 31 December 2025 and provides a comprehensive overview of the company’s environmental, social, and governance performance, including progress against its ESG strategy, governance framework, stakeholder engagement programmes, and preparations for the commercial-scale development of the Piauí Nickel Project.

The report has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative standards, aligned with relevant International Financial Reporting Standards sustainability guidance and mapped against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
