Xcalibur Smart Mapping and JEMSE (Jujuy Energía y Minería Sociedad del Estado) have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to collaborate on a series of strategic regional mapping and research projects contributing to the economic growth of Jujuy Province.

The projects include:

  • Identification and mapping of critical raw materials and strategic minerals necessary for the energy transition, using advanced airborne geophysical technologies.
  • Groundwater identification to support the development of public policies for sustainable use of water.
  • Exploration of geothermal potential to enhance renewable energy.
  • Initiatives for geological hazard mapping to improve disaster risk management and public safety strategies.
  • Talent development and training in the fields of geophysics and geology to ensure the strengthening of the geological technical institutions of the Government of the Province of Jujuy with the latest geophysical technologies and expertise.
  • Support the ‘Debunking Myths about Water and Lithium’ strategy by the Government of Jujuy Province. This will involve refining the areas for lithium exploration and mining and areas impacted by lithium production.

Each project will be governed by detailed agreements outlining objectives, scope, work plans, technical requirements, budget, and financing sources. In close collaboration with the Secretariat of Mining of the Jujuy Province Government, both Xcalibur Smart Mapping and JEMSE will work together to identify, prepare, and secure funding solutions attracting investors focused on sustainable energy generation and mining, contributing to the economic growth of Jujuy Province.

“This LOI represents a significant step forward in our common goal to advance geophysical research and sustainable resource management in Argentina”, said Andrés Blanco, CEO of Xcalibur. “By combining our expertise and resources, we can make substantial contributions to the sustainable management of natural resources and the development of geophysical talents.”

Francisco Regidor, Country Mapping Manager, has highlighted that “with the study results, JEMSE will promote investor attraction in the fields of energy generation and environmentally sustainable mining. This will not only drive the economic development of the province but also have a positive impact on the country as a whole.”

Exequiel Lello, President of JEMSE, expressed his enthusiasm for this agreement: “We are delighted to partner with Xcalibur, as this agreement will allow us to better identify our natural resources and promote new investments in our province. This will not only strengthen JEMSE in the mining sector, but will also boost economic development and sustainable growth in Jujuy.”

Lello also highlighted the importance of this agreement in the fight against unemployment: “By attracting new investment, we are not only expanding our business, but also providing job opportunities for our community. We are taking a transformative step towards a prosperous and sustainable future for all Jujuyans.”
