Cleveland Potash has confirmed plans to apply for planning permission from the North York Moors Park Authority to extend operations at the Boulby Mine, Cleveland. The company's current planning permission for the site is to expire in 2023.
Managing Director, Marc Kirsten, remarked on the plans for application: “Boulby is unique in the UK as a producer of potash and is the only site in the world mining the mineral polyhalite, marketed as Polysulphate, which provides a multi-mineral fertilizer for the global farming industry.
"In addition, we are a major producer of salt, which has a variety of uses, including providing much of the road salt used on the country’s highways network.

The application is speculated to request an extension of 20 years.
