With heritage and cultural management front and centre for miners, K2fly’s heritage software solution is being picked up by global miners, keen to use technology to overcome some of the operational issues inherent in cultural heritage management.
Chief Commercial Officer at K2fly, Nic Pollock, says that while good leadership on cultural heritage is crucial, siloes and internal systems and processes need to be improved for miners to effectively manage cultural heritage and local community relationships.
“We are seeing organisations expressing a strong and genuine need for better management, transparency and governance.
“But leadership can only do so much if the legacy systems of large and global organisations can’t keep up.
“Miners are traditionally federated and siloed, across different continents and even local teams. There can be many different organisational areas involved in heritage management, from exploration through to the actual heritage team and corporate affairs. Stakeholder relations needs to be baked into everything.
“You can only all work towards the goal of creating better and more successful community agreements if all parties across the organisation are effectively co-ordinating activities and sharing information. That’s the aspect that has often fallen down.”
K2fly’s heritage solution, based on the Infoscope platform, was developed nearly 8 years ago to specifically answer the needs of miners and indigenous community agreements.
